On February 6, 2011 at approximately 10:00 PM Oscar Rios, a 17 year old male from Las Cruces, escaped from the John Paul Taylor Juvenile Detention Facility west of Las Cruces. Rios is described as an Hispanic male, six feet, one inches tall, one hundred sixty-eight pounds with medium complexion, short black hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos including: 3 dots near his left eye, a tear drop near his right eye, and the name “Esther” tattooed on his right wrist.
Rios has also used an alias of “Oscar Hernandez”. He was placed in the detention center in December, 2010 after conviction for Armed Robbery charges. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
